Have you ever fancied having a go at free-motion embroidery on your sewing machine?
I run workshops to help get you started using your 0wn machine for free-motion embroidery. During the day we will be learning the art of free-motion machine embroidery to create fun and contemporary appliquéd pictures, jewellery or items for your home. Ideas will always be provided but you may work on any subject you like and you will end the day with a finished piece of work to take home! Most of my workshops are suitable for total beginners (All you need is a little bit of experience using a sewing machine) but if you’ve already had a go at free-motion you might want to try making a brooch/necklace or come and make a personalised hoop picture!
On these free-motion embroidery courses you will learn how to:
– Choose fabrics to use with this technique
– Use colour and pattern to create dynamic results
– Piece your fabric together
– ’Draw’ in detail with the sewing machine
You can create any picture you like but a range of ideas and templates will be available if needed to get you started – including houses, beach huts, flowers, teacups, birds & seasonal themes. These workshops are suitable for both beginners and intermediates.

Location: The workshops will take place at The Quilting Bee, a lovely fabric shop in Llandudno. They have a dedicated workshop room that is light and spacious and perfect for running my workshops! The shop is stocked full of gorgeous fabrics and everything you could need for your sewing projects and you will get a 10% discount on all purchases on the day! Visit their Facebook page HERE. NB, there is a flight of stairs to reach the workshop space, there is a hand rail and I can carry your machine up for you, but if this will be a problem, please get in touch.
Numbers: 10 spaces per workshop. This class size allows me to give individuals plenty of attention.
Equipment: Bring your machine & develop the confidence to use it for free-motion embroidery. (You will need to bring your machine fitted with a free-motion embroidery foot) – Using your own machine will allow you to get to know how it feels using this technique so you can carry on easily once you get home! If you don’t have your own machine please get in touch as I am able to supply one for a small hire fee of £5. A specific equipment list for each workshop will be supplied when you book.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for free but please bring some lunch with you. There are shops and a cafe nearby.
